This Monday night, two prominent players from the past will be going head-to-head. The most important word of that sentence is past. This matchup would actually be worth the primetime watch if it was four years ago. From the Windy City, this guy has hands of glue and a knack for receiving for below-average quarterbacks. His name is Allen Robinson. On the other side, playing for Washington is a once elite and now has-been cornerback, Josh Norman. This matchup could actually be more entertaining then what it looks like on paper. It looks lopsided on paper. Let’s breakdown the players, shall we?

Allen Robinson

Let’s start off on offense with Allen Robinson. Even though he’s only had one Pro Bowl appearance, don’t sleep on him. This guy can catch. He’s so good at catching the ball, that he even used another player’s helmet to catch it with. Like I said, Robinson’s no joke. One of the most underrated receivers in the NFL, Allen Robinson is a prime red-zone target for Trubisky. If Trubisky’s looking to start throwing downfield, Robinson’s the guy. The Redskins are ranked 31st in points given up and 25th in passing yards. On paper, Robinson should ball out. However, Trubisky’s slump for the beginning of this season has been rough. It’s tough to say Robinson will even get the chance to be in the end zone. As long as this offense gets rolling, then Robinson will be taking home the game ball.

Josh Norman

Josh Norman clearly isn’t what he used to be. He’s still a loudmouth who talks like he’s still elite, but that’s just not true. Norman hasn’t been elite since 2015. Once he signed with the Redskins, he’s just been decent. Now, he’s one of the most targeted corners by offenses. If Norman could shutdown Robinson, then maybe his elite status would return. Trubisky’s rough start could make Norman’s job easier. If the Redskins are able to pressure Mitch, then Norman’s job will be easier than it could be.

Allen Robinson clearly has the upper hand in this matchup, and this is the game for Trubisky to breakout. Josh Norman is a has been and he stands no chance.
