Cordarrelle Patterson is the type of player that will fit right in for the Bears for so many reasons. The first reason will be his return ability, Patterson has the longest kickoff return in NFL history. It came in his rookie season of 2013 in a game against the Packers. The most interesting stat that was found in his career is that he averages 30.0 Yards per Kickoff Return. Interestingly enough, that is second all-time just behind a Bears Legend, Gale Sayers. NFL special team units are going to fear to kick the ball off to Patterson or Cohen. The best bet is to kick the ball out of the endzone.

2018 Kick Return

Patterson will be another big target in the red zone for Quarterback Mitch Trubisky to target, this season. The numbers over his seven-year career are not staggering, but he has 184 receptions for 1,872 yards which is 10.2YPC on average. The Bears will be able to use him on all different types of shemes to get open. With his ability to move in space, they can use him in the screen game and short yardage areas since he can move the sticks.

Packers Cannot Stop Patterson

In 2018 the Patriots brought out a trait that was underutilized for Patterson, that is running the ball. Over his whole career that stat line is 86 rushing attempts for 682 yard which is 7.9 on average. Looking over footage of 2018, he was used on a few jet sweeps, which we saw quite a bit with the Bears last season. Teams will have no idea who will be running that play when they are setting up. Will it be a quicker player like Cohen or Gabriel? Could it be a stronger guy like Robinson or Patterson? The Bears now have weapons, that are all over the field. Patterson even lined up in the backfield a few times in 2018. The Bears could use him anywhere on the offensive side of the ball it will be interesting to watch.

Run it Back!

Patterson will fit right in with this team.

With the loss of Bellamy, the Bears are looking for players that fit with what the organization is trying to do. Play fast! Over the first six years of his career, Patterson is always out during his pregame having fun with the fans. Builds great relationships with all of his teammates and has a fun time. Looks like he could help fill in that DJ role for Club Dub when it comes back in 2019 in full force!!
